Input Needed: Lock Screen Image

When I released Fresh 1.0 I also unveiled a totally clear lock screen… one that had no wallpaper at all (as a side note… I know those of you who had already picked a custom lockscreen wallpaper weren’t able to get it to go clear. I found where it was cached and included a removal tool as part of my pre-kitchen).

When I released it I included a “proof of concept” image which was a full screen lock. I knew it was ugly, but I just wanted to show what was possible and to try and generate some creativity. I made several requests for some ideas or submissions on what to put there but I didn’t get anything.

With the upcoming release of 1.1 I would like to replace the full screen lock image, however I do plan on keeping the totally clear lock screen. So I’m looking for ideas, input, submissions, or anything on what you guys can give me on what to put in it’s place. Vote on the poll below, and submit your comments.

im using the lil android lockscreen overlay that ajones7279 made here but would like to see dif colors of it or somthing like it. also would like to change or remove SPRINT from on top of the lock

Leave it just as original. The big lock looks tacky. I like the Vanilla HTC lock screen.

At least release an update like you did with 1.0 so I can revert back.

  My pre-kitchen (check the downloads) provides a way to flash back to the stock one. And that will still work with 1.1. So no worries on your end.

I actually like the Vanilla Android lockscreen. But it would be nice instead of having to press menu to unlock to just swip down like the stock HTC Android lockscreen.

I like the 2.0.1. swipe lock with clear background.. and maybe a way to remove Sprint, and let us personalize it (if it’s easy to do with the kitchen)

  “Sprint” will be removed in this version. Funny how I just did and didn’t say anything about it but now that’s the 2nd request for it in this post ha.
  
  Customizing it can’t be done (meaning changing what it says) but I was able to remove it.

The vanilla android lockscreens won’t be happening guys. The 1.5 one can easily be used by just deleting htc’s lockscreen from your apps directory, and the 2.0.1 vanilla one can’t be ported.

I use ‘Clear Lockscreen’ (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=594274&highlight=clear) with wallpaper of my choice. +1 to remove “Sprint” text.

How about a cool frame of some kind? Then you’d have the effect of the clear image without affecting peoples custom wallpapers…

vote for just taking out the lock. then ppl can use their lock wall papers. and if only there was a way to take out the arrows to tell u to swipe down~

I keep going back and forth with the app Lock. 2.0. It gives it an iPhone type of lock screen and I really like it. The negative is that you have to launch the app after every reboot.

I have to agree that I like Dan’s frozen look. My first thought when seeing the current lock on Fresh1.0 was “why not do a frozen or frosted glass look??”

    I would have done a blurred look but from what I understand the lockscreen img is just a transparent png or something that is being over-layed on your normal desktop.
    
    There’s not way to do that with a simple transparent image though there is programmatically a way to do it.

I like the frame idea. The frozen one is ok, but I enjoy my wallpaper and hate to cover it.

I would like to see something very simple and clear, I really like being able to see what is behind the screen.

Just a small bar so I can kinda see what I am moving. Maybe branded as “Fresh”?

Cool, thanks noj. Right now I think based on the responses here I’ll do totally clear and then release a pack of other options for the kitchen. I personally use totally clear. Having it start as totally clear makes the options a little easier for people to customize it.

lol, yeah.
maybe we can make a flickr or photobucket site and reference it from here for home and lock wallpapers.

I was thinking we could make something here to display, but since it’s blog oriented, might be easier to make a blog with information/directions, then link a photo site.

Please just change it. To anything. Even the stock was better than this.

As much as I appreciate and enjoy the ROM, the lock image is really kind of embarrassing when I try to show off my phone. As superficial as that sounds, anything else would look more polished.

How ’bout a down arrow with the date and time inside, or an off center down arrow next to the date/time. maybe boring but I prefer subdued and functional over flashy or gimmicky.

Alright I honestly like the 1.0 lockscreen but that brown color is horrendous if u made it silver or gray with the same look it would be tons better but I also like the idea of a semi transparent frozen lockscreen and I think that it would fit fresh better fresh out the freezer colder than a polar bears toe nails and all that ice cold and reFRESHing

I think someone ought to make an app for this, but a lockscreen that shows something like the following on a black banner on the top would be best. I did this using photoshop.
