Fresh Evo 3.3.0.1 for your Sprint Evo 4g

Featuring the new OTA with bug fixes and unlocked FPS.

Base: Supersonic 3.29.651.5

Changes from Fresh Evo 3.2.0.0 to 3.3.0.1:

Based on a new Sprint OTA (3.29.651.5)

New kernel by HTC (ge2fb08e)

Modified slightly to allow apps2sd and remount to work

Has fps unlocked by default, straight from HTC’s source!

Deodex’d whole build to make theming easier

PNG Optimized and zipaligned the whole build

Updated SuperUser to 2.3.6.1

Updated Wireless Tether to 2.0.5-pre-9

Updated DarkTremor apps2sd to 2.7.5 final

Updated Google Maps to 4.5

Updated Gmail to 2.3

Updated Google Voice Search to 2.0.1

Removed LauncherPro

If you currently have LauncherPro installed and use it then this won’t affect you. But I have decided to stop including it by default with my roms for various reasons.

Changes from Fresh Evo 3.1.0.2 to 3.2.0.0:

Based on a brand new Sprint OTA that hasn’t been released yet (3.28.651.1)

Updated stagefright audio framework for improved streaming audio.

This DOES have the side effect of creating issues with hulu (which isn’t technically official for the Android anyways) as reported here. I’m working on a patch to rollback to the previous version of stagefright for those who just prefer to have hulu working. It will be on Fresh Updater once I get a chance to do it and test it.

New kernel by HTC (g3a8614e)

This kernel has been showing some amazing battery life. It is “stock” so it won’t give you overclocking however both myself and freshlyill have gone 1.5 days without charging under normal/medium use.

Unlike my previous roms I have not resigned this rom so a full data wipe is required.

The Evo is still being actively developed by HTC and Sprint which means there are new updates coming out on a fairly regular basis. My resigning the rom allows for extra modifications to be able to be made and allows for new updates without doing a data wipe however ont he flip side it means that I have to resign any new updates from HTC/Sprint before you can use them. For the time being I have decided to put this rom back to HTC’s signature so that as new updates are released on the market by Google (like the new voice search and google maps) or by Sprint (like the new VVM) or by HTC (like the new widgets) then you can get them without having to wait on me to release them.

Removed the extra HTC widgets being included by default because this rom is no longer re-signed so you can install them yourself through add widgets.

Updated Sprint Visual Voicemail to v5.1.0.34

Updated Launcher Pro to 0.7.6.0

Updated SuperUser to 2.3.4

Updated DarkTremor apps2sd to 2.7.5 RC3 release C

Updated ES File Explorer to 1.4.5

The following files were changed by the new OTA:

Browser, Calendar, HTC Album, HTC Contacts, Mail, PCSCII, Phone, debuggerd, dmagent, sequansd, a handful of lib files.

There were no new radios with this update.

READ:

Install Notes: This update does not require a data wipe if you are on Fresh Evo 3.2. If you are coming from another rom then a wipe may be required. Always perform a nandroid backup before flashing. Updating to the new radio and PRI is highly recommended. You can do it before or after you flash the rom. The download is below.

If you are a donor and are already running 3.3.0 then there is a 1.5mb patch on Fresh Updater for you that will take you from 3.3.0 to 3.3.0.1.

Fresh Evo 3.2.0.0 for your Sprint Evo 4g

Featuring a brand new OTA that hasn’t been released yet.

Base: Supersonic 3.28.651.1

This update has proven to have superior battery life and an improved streaming audio experience. I am in the process of uploading a stock rooted copy of this build, I will post it when it’s ready.

Changes from Fresh Evo 3.1.0.2 to 3.2.0.0:

Based on a brand new Sprint OTA that hasn’t been released yet (3.28.651.1)

Updated stagefright audio framework for improved streaming audio.

Updated Gmail to 2.2.1 (08/14/10)

Added Sprint Football Live 2.2.32 to /sdcard/fresh-removed-apks-3/

Fixed single click on “Search” button not working — I highly recommend that you uninstall Google Search and Google Voice Search if you already installed the new ones from the market before doing this update or that button may still not work.

There were a couple random reports of the video camera using 100% cpu load. I was never able to duplicate but I replaced HTCCamera just in case. I also brought back the shutter sounds.

READ:

Donors: If you downloaded and installed this rom already then you may notice that the download here has a different md5 but the same file version. The ONLY changes that changed were a couple tweaks to my update script, and I fixed the Fresh Updater/Reboot bug posted here. I chose to not make a new version number and force people to update just for that. There is already a patch on fresh updater to fix it.

New to 3.2: You will see a patch in Fresh Updater that addresses the issue I mentioned above. You do not need to get that patch as yours is already fixed. However because I didn’t change the version numbers, you’ll still see it.

Install Notes: This update definitely requires a data wipe for any current Fresh users because it’s not resigned. You must wipe! If you are coming from another rom (that hasn’t been resigned) then a data wipe may not be required. With that said… some users are reporting that they were able to flash without wiping.

Fair warning: if you ask me something that is already answered in the forum, the change log, or these release notes, then I’m going to ignore it. Sorry.

Geek For Me is proud to release:

Fresh Hero 2.4.0 for your Sprint Hero

NOTE: Remember that Fresh Hero is considered a stable every day rom, and Fresh Toast is a dev rom that may have issues. Also (in case there is confusion) Fresh Hero is for the Hero and Fresh Evo for the Evo. But I think that’s self explanatory.

Also FYI the phone may freeze on the very first boot at the lockscreen, or it may get to the lockscreen and then reboot one more time. This should only happen on the very first boot after flashing the rom (if it happens at all).

If you are coming from Fresh Hero 2.3.3 then no wipe is required. You can grab the incremental update (10 mb) to go from 2.3.3 or the full update. The full update is required if you are coming from any other rom. If you are coming from another rom then a full wipe may be required.

Need help? Problems? Bugs?

Change log

Base: RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_2.27.651.6

This is just a maintenance release to keep your phone updated and running smoothly.

Changes from 2.3.3 to 2.4.0:

Updated DarkTremor apps2sd to 2.7.5 RC3 build C

Updated SuperUser to 2.3.4

Updated ES File Explorer to 1.4.5

Updated LauncherPro to 0.7.6.0

Updated Google maps to 4.4.0

Removed Facebook App

If you already have it installed then this won’t remove it. If you want to install it later then just grab it off the market.

What to expect / how to flash it / READ THIS:

Download and copy the zip to the root of your sdcard

Reboot to RA and do a data wipe / factory reset (REQUIRED)

You may also need to wipe sd:ext if you are having troubles booting.

If you are running Fresh Toast and ext4 then you’ll need to partition back to ext3 if you want to use apps2sd

Pick flash zip from sdcard and select fresh-hero*.zip

After it finishes flashing reboot. Expect the first boot up to take a while.

If it boot loops over and over (you keep hearing the startup sound) then you didn’t wipe everything.

When the phone boots and comes to the user setup screen I would recommend syncing your google account right away. I noticed an old bug creep back in where it gets stuck during sync. This seems to be avoided by adding your google account during setup.

The more social networking stuff you have setup (Facebook, twitter, friendstream, etc) the less battery life you will get. These programs do not have a “push” function and work by checking every single one of your contacts to see if they have an update.

DOWNLOAD:

An incremental download (10 mb) is available on Fresh Updater if you are on Fresh Hero 2.3.3. If you are on any other rom then you won’t see it. If you are on another rom or have any issues with the incremental then you can grab the full download.

Geek For Me is proud to release:

Fresh Toast Custom Kernel for your Sprint Evo 4g

Experimental, and only available through Fresh Updater.

Fresh Toast was a popular collaboration rom by toastcfh and myself for the CDMA Hero. I am proud to announce that it’s now available for the Evo! Rather than being offered as a separate rom it is now going to be offered as an update/patch for Fresh Evo. If you are running Fresh Rom 0.5.3 or 1.0.0 (testers/donors only right now) then you can get the update by enabling experimental roms in Fresh Updater (more info below). There are 0 changes made to the rom itself other than drivers, all of the changes are in the kernel.

The release notes on this are going to be very brief right now, and so is support. Please report any issues that you guys come across but don’t be too surprised by that due to it’s experimental nature. You all are the testers!

Fresh Toast Features:

CompCache / ramzswap

This is actually already included in Fresh Evo, but thanks to the new kernel it is hard coded in there and works a lot better.

Overclock available up to 1.27ghz, however it doesn’t seem to totally function above about 1.15ghz.

Only tested with SetCPU. Should also work fine with Overclock Widget. Neither are included.

If you are reporting OC issues then make sure to say which application you are using. And don’t report it if it’s related to problems when going above 1.1ghz.

Undervolt — http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_voltage_scaling#Undervolting

This lowers the voltage required by the processor at lower clock speeds, thus reducing heat and battery drain.

Ext4 support — http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ext4

If using apps2sd then you can convert your ext partition to ext4. Read the wikipedia article for noted benefits.

You can use AmonRA to convert from ext3 to ext4 without any data loss, just keep in mind that if you try using another rom that doesn’t support ext4 then it won’t be able to read it. Going from ext4 back to ext3 will require re-partitioning your sdcard.

Both kernels contain extensive tweaks related to speed, power, VM, etc. More details and information to come on all of those tweaks.

Brain F**k Scheduler aka BFS (optional) – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain_Fuck_Scheduler

One version of the kernel includes BFS and one doesn’t. BFS will definitely make your phone run faster but it’s done with a possible side effect of stability. Test it out and see if you have any issuers.

If you are reporting any problems with Fresh Toast then make sure and say if you are using the BFS kernel or not.

If you aren’t sure what a scheduler is: it’s basically what is responsible for queuing up work for the processor to do. From an engineering standpoint even though we can multitask on our phone, the CPU is technically doing only one thing at a time. A scheduler is what controls which job the CPU is working on and which ones are next. This replaces the stock android one with BFS.

Update 07/11/2010 @ 1:30am: A build that includes the 30 FPS unlock has now been added! This should work on both panels (novatec and epson) but has only been tested on epson.

At release hardware id 0002 = novatec and 0003 = epson, however some 0003 id’s are coming with the novatec screen.

This of course is still experimental, but post any issues that you have. Credit to netarchy on the FPS fix. If your phone seems really slow after first boot then just reboot it.

Update 07/11/2010 @ 9:15pm: A new build has gone up (#26) that has a cleaner and better FPS fix. Should now work for more users. Also now has a max of 53 fps instead of the previous 43. You may need to cycle the screen off and then on after boot. Check the updater for it. Report any issues.

Reporting an issue? Please give us which kernel number you are using (#13 or #20 — you can get this by going to Settings < About Phone < Software Information < Kernel Version) and also which overclock application you are using.

Download:

This can only be downloaded through Fresh Updater, and only if you are on Fresh Evo 0.5.3 or 1.0.0 (testers/donors only for now). Users coming from Fresh Evo 1.0.0 should not have to worry about wiping or doing anything special. If coming from 0.5.3 then a wipe might be required to get it booted, I didn’t test. Fresh Updater also has the kernels included with Fresh Evo so that you can go back to them if you have any issues with Fresh Toast. As always make sure you do a nandroid.

You must enable experimental roms in order to have them show up.

Fresh Updater > Menu > Configuration > Rom Update Settings > Display Experimental Roms — Then check for updates.

Fresh Toast v2.1 by toastcfh and flipz

Come and get it!

Preface: I just want to remind everyone that Fresh Rom and Fresh Toast are two separate roms…. sort of. Fresh Rom is considered totally stable (as stable as can be at least). Fresh Toast uses Fresh Rom as it’s base but adds in a custom kernel by toast and all kinds of goodies. This could potentially make your phone AWESOME-O, but it’s with the understanding that it is more of a development rom. However it is considered extremely stable. At this time you can flash between Fresh Rom 2.1 and Fresh Toast 2.1 without wiping. Just make sure you disable setcpu or oc widget if you go back to Fresh Rom.

A note on slowness: It is coming to our attention that there are several bugs in the latest Sprint 2.27.651.5 RUU which is presumed to be the final build. It doesn’t surprise me that there are bugs considering our original 1.5 had plenty. The main one that we have come across is a service called com.htc.bg that sucks up your processor. This causes that phone to become extremely laggy and overall run like crap. Go read my new FAQ: Why is my Android phone running so slow? to see what you can do about it, and to report the issue. Keep in mind that this would be a Sprint bug and not Fresh Rom / Fresh Toast.

Overclock Widget vs SetCPU: Up until now toast and I have been pushing SetCPU because it allows us to create a custom file that tells it what clock speeds the rom is capable of running at which makes things nice and easy. However a couple of bugs have come up lately. First off is that it is constantly using 10-15% of the processor when it shouldn’t even be doing anything. That doesn’t sound like a lot but that’s pretty extreme. The second issue is that it doesn’t seem to be honoring the settings you pick. I could tell it that I want the minimum to be 245mhz but I would catch it at 19mhz. Or vice-versa I tell it that I want the max to be 650mhz and I catch it at 767mhz. With that said, toast took the time to program settings in to the kernel that will now allow you to pick “automatic” off of the device selection rather than custom. This may resolve the issue, so just keep an eye out for it if you use SetCPU. In OC Widget just go in to settings and click “Detect frequencies” to have it read them. If you have no preference then I’m personally saying to use Overclock Widget. It isn’t quite as user friendly as SetCPU, but it gets the job done right. Additionally as a 3rd reminder: make sure if you are running Fresh Toast that you DO use one of these applications, and if you are running Fresh Rom that DO NOT run one of these. Doing so can cause slowdowns.

And now it’s time for serious business!

Features:

Built off of Fresh Rom 2.1.1 so all features of it are in this rom (brand new 2.27.651.5 RUU base).

A special thanks goes out to all the donators who have been testing this release and helped us find a number of bugs. And of course for helping fund the server costs and coffee addictions.

What to expect / how to flash it / READ THIS :

Download and copy the zip to the root of your sdcard

Reboot to RA and do a data wipe / factory reset (Should not be required if currently running Fresh Rom 2.1.1 or Fresh Toast 2.1 Beta 1. However if you have any issues after flashing and you didn’t wipe… then wipe!)

You may also need to wipe sd:ext if you are having troubles booting.

Pick flash zip from sdcard and select fresh-toast-v21-heroc.zip

After it finishes flashing reboot. Expect the first boot up to take a bit.

If it freezes during first boot then wipe everything including SD:Ext Partition. This will delete all apps off your sdcard. You will want to reflash the rom if you have to do this or else you will be missing some apps from the rom. Note that if you are using ext4 then you will need to either re-partition your card or use Godspeed RA to properly wipe ext4. AmonRA will wipe it without errors but it can’t actually read ext4 to wipe it.

When the phone boots and comes to the user setup screen I would recommend syncing your google account right away. I noticed an old bug creep back in where it gets stuck during sync. This seems to be avoided by adding your google account during setup.

Will this work on other phones?

Officially no. And I don't plan on adding support for other phones because it would be impossible for me to do without owning the phone. However I do plan on owning an Evo once that comes out so you can expect support for it once it's rooted. :)

When will it work for Android 2.1?

Once Sprint makes our 2.1 official I will integrate it in to the kitchen.

Will this work on ____ rom?

It is only designed and tested for fresh rom. It doesn't mean it won't work, but that's the only one it's guaranteed to work for.

The information on tab 1 of the kitchen will not populate

You probably have HTC Sync running in the background on your computer. Make sure to close it out.

Everything looks out of alignment in the app. It looks nothing like in your screen shots or video.

I used the font Century Gothic when I designed the kitchen, thinking it was a stock font. As it turns out it comes with Office, not with Windows. So if you don't have Office you don't have the right there, therefore things don't show up properly for you.

If you have any questions on using the kitchen then please watch the how to video. I have answered basically every question that you could ask in it!! I had to split it in to two parts because youtube limits submitted videos to 10 minutes.
