How To Remove Carrier IQ From My Android Phone
3It seems there isn’t a single website out there right now that isn’t talking about Carrier IQ, as if it’s something brand new. I already made a post about this two weeks ago titled HTC is watching you… where I pointed out that while I wasn’t totally aware of what I had actually stumbled across, I first noticed this suspicious service over 2 years ago on the Sprint CDMA Hero.
Almost 8 months ago I successfully removed Carrier IQ from Fresh Evo 4.0, the first release for the Evo that was based on gingerbread. I have removed it on every rom since.
So the question remains… how do I remove Carrier IQ from my phone? If you’re using Fresh Rom, then you don’t have to! The work has already been done for you; 8 months ago. This includes Fresh Evo, Fresh Evo 3d, and Fresh Shift.
Your phone is totally clean and spy free.
How To Use V6 SuperCharger for Android
17I have seen a ton of questions on how to use the V6 SuperCharger script by zeppelinrox after I included it in the newest versions of Fresh Rom. I decided to write this very quick how to on using it. If you have any further questions or issues with it then please visit the original thread for it! I didn’t write it and can’t provide support for it.
This is just a very basic how to with minimal explanations on what it’s actually doing. It’s only to help people set it up.
How To: Get Back to PRI 1.40 on Evo
As you may or may not know… when the Evo shipped it came with PRI 1.40. The PRI (as best as I know it) is a connection between your phone and the radio and is responsible for carrying both voice and data. During the rooting (nand unlock step) process your PRI gets downgraded to 1.34. Many users reported slow data speeds on the 1.34 PRI (which was an older PRI during the Evo’s testing/development days). It is a pretty simple fix to get it back to 1.40 if Sprint had made the files available to us, however they didn’t. I spoke with HTC a few days ago and they told me that a FOTA was coming from Sprint that included the correct PRI but they didn’t have an ETA. Thanks to a thread on XDA I was informed that it is live now.
You can follow these steps to get your PRI back to 1.40 without any data loss.
News: Facebook 1.3 Not Releasing Partial Wake Lock
GeekFor.Me is long overdue for a post explaining awake time and when you should and shouldn’t worry about it, and I actually worry that this post could bring that whole debate back up, but I wanted to get this information out there.
FAQ: Why you shouldn’t be using… [a rant]
In an addition to the most popular post on my site Why You Shouldn’t Be Using a Task Killer with Android, I have decided to make this post which quite frankly, is a rant.

News: HTC Facebook not Syncing Contacts
I have been getting a lot of reports over the last week or so of people not being able to sync their contacts with HTC Facebook (Facebook for Sense). It happened shortly after I released a new rom for the Evo and Hero and I didn’t see others complaining about the issue so I assumed it was something related to what I did. As it turns out this is a widespread problem that has occurred after a Facebook API change, and HTC is working on it.
